{"id":1633,"date":"2020-04-23T10:29:29","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T17:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.monettyler.com\/blog\/?p=1633"},"modified":"2020-04-21T14:32:34","modified_gmt":"2020-04-21T21:32:34","slug":"covid-19-household-checklist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monettyler.com\/blog\/2020\/04\/23\/covid-19-household-checklist\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Household Checklist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a family, you can plan and make decisions now that will protect you and your family during a COVID-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n<h3>Stay informed and in touch<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Get up-to-date information about local COVID-19 activity from public health officials.<\/li>\n<li>Ask your neighbors what their plan includes.<\/li>\n<li>Create a list of local organizations you and your household can contact in case you need access to information, healthcare services, support, and resources.<\/li>\n<li>Create an emergency contact list including family, friends, neighbors, carpool drivers, healthcare providers, teachers, employers, the local public health department, and other community resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Prepare for possible illness<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Consider members of the household that may be at greater risk such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/need-extra-precautions\/people-at-higher-risk.html\">older adults and people with severe chronic illnesses<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose a room in your house that can be used to separate sick household members from others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Take everyday preventive steps<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Wash your hands frequently.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.<\/li>\n<li>Stay home when you are sick.<\/li>\n<li>Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/cleaning-disinfection.html\">Clean and disinfect<\/a>\u00a0frequently touched objects and surfaces.<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared if your child\u2019s school or childcare facility is temporarily dismissed or for potential changes at your workplace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"card bl-3 bl-secondary mb-3\">\n<div class=\"card-body bg-gray-l2\">\n<p><strong>Related:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/prevention.html\">How to Protect Yourself<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Watch for symptoms<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Stay home and speak to your healthcare provider if you develop any of these symptoms:\n<ul>\n<li>Fever or<\/li>\n<li>Cough or<\/li>\n<li>Shortness of breath<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Emergency warning signs include*:\n<ul class=\"false\">\n<li>Trouble breathing<\/li>\n<li>Persistent pain or pressure in the chest<\/li>\n<li>New confusion or inability to arouse<\/li>\n<li>Bluish lips or face<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"false\">\n<li>Keep away from others who are sick.<\/li>\n<li>Limit close contact with others as much as possible (about 6 feet).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>If someone in your home is sick<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"false\">\n<li>Continue to practice\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/prevention.html\">everyday preventive actions<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the ill person in a separate room from others in the household.<\/li>\n<li>If\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/if-you-are-sick\/care-for-someone.html\">caring for a sick household member<\/a>, follow recommended precautions and monitor your own health.<\/li>\n<li>Keep surfaces disinfected.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid sharing personal items.<\/li>\n<li>If you become sick, stay in contact with others by phone or email.<\/li>\n<li>Stay informed about the local outbreak situation.<\/li>\n<li>Notify your work if your schedule needs to change.<\/li>\n<li>Take care of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-life-coping\/managing-stress-anxiety.html\">emotional health<\/a>\u00a0of your household members, including yourself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Those at higher risk of severe illness<\/h3>\n<p>Take additional precautions for those at higher risk, particularly older adults and those who have severe underlying health conditions.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"false\">\n<li>Consider staying at home and away from crowds.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you have access to several weeks of medications and supplies in case you need to stay home.<\/li>\n<li>When you go out in public, keep away from others who are sick and limit close contact with others.<\/li>\n<li>Practice good hand hygiene.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Children<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"false\">\n<li>Notify your child\u2019s school if your child becomes sick with COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li>Keep track of school dismissals in your community.<\/li>\n<li>Discourage children and teens from gathering in other public places.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-life-coping\/checklist-household-ready.html\">CDC Link<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a family, you can plan and make decisions now that will protect you and your family during a COVID-19 outbreak.
